About

Who we are

Peri Happy exists because the two aisles a woman in perimenopause gets sent down, wellness woo on one side, "just put up with it" on the other, are both dead ends. We build the third: real food, real research, real life.

Why we started

Perimenopause can start in your early forties and run for a decade, and for most of that time the practical question is the same one it's been every day of your adult life: what's for dinner? Except now the answer matters differently. Falling oestrogen changes how your body stores fat, holds muscle, manages blood sugar and gets to sleep, and there is a genuinely useful body of research about how food can help.

That research was sitting in journals, behind paywalls and jargon, while the internet filled the gap with supplement subscriptions and miracle diets. Nobody had done the unglamorous work of turning the evidence into weeknight dinners a whole family will eat. So that's the company: a recipe developer's standards, a researcher's footnotes, and a school-night deadline.

How we work

Every recipe starts from the evidence, not the trend. Our science pages set out what the research actually shows for each category, including where it's promising rather than proven; the recipes are built to deliver those mechanisms in food a real household will cook on a Tuesday. When the evidence is thin, we say so. When something is popular but unsupported, we skip it, whatever it's doing on social media.

The same honesty applies to the tools. Our planner and check-ins find patterns in what you log; they are patterns, not prescriptions, and we will never dress a correlation up as a diagnosis. Food supports you through perimenopause. It doesn't cure it, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something.

Who checks our work

Recipes are nutritionally analysed, and our science pages and any claim attached to a recipe are reviewed by registered dietitians specialising in midlife women's health, the same experts who add professional notes to community discussions where one helps. Reviewers are paid, credited, and free to tell us we're wrong; that's the point of them.

What we believe

  • Evidence before trends. If we can't point at the research, we don't publish the claim.
  • Food, not fear. No miracle cures, no supplement spam, no "clean eating" guilt. Dinner should make your week better, not become another symptom.
  • Real kitchens. Budgets, fussy kids, twenty-minute evenings and freezers are design constraints, not edge cases.
  • Name it plainly. Perimenopause, menopause, hot flushes, night sweats. No euphemisms; you can't cook for something you won't name.
  • Your data is yours. What you log stays private, is never sold, and leaves with you the day you ask. Our privacy page says this in full.
  • The whole household eats. This food is just good food; partners and kids shouldn't be able to tell it's "for" anyone.

Where we're going

The recipes and science pages are the foundation. On top of them we're building the Peri Planner: a weekly plan shaped by your symptoms, cycle and household, which learns from thirty-second daily check-ins which foods actually work for you, and can hand your GP a one-page summary of what you've tried. Through perimenopause and well beyond it; the tool follows you, it doesn't expire.

If any of that sounds like something you want to be part of, as a partner, an expert or a member, we'd love to hear from you on our work with us page.
